I don’t think that state law in California will allow this.
In CA you must transport weapons unloaded with ammo in a locked metal container. The trunk will do. Most shooters will leave the clips with the ammo just to be sure to express their interest in obeying the law.
There are more rules regarding locks, but good luck figuring it out.

I take my 2-year old son every time I can to the Miami Seaquarium because he loves to see the dolphins and “Lolita” the orca whale. We absolutely enjoy the show, but every time we go I think the same thing: “Why in the world the biggest animal in this place has the smallest tank?” When you see the whale of this size jump up in the air it seems it will land outside of the tank. By contrast, a group of only 4 or 5 dolphins have a beautiful dual-pool home connected to the ocean. Plenty of space there!
As much as we enjoy visiting “Lolita” I would definitively be happier is she was moved to a bigger home.

Antonio,
Next time you are there, wouldm it be possible for you to ask to speak with someone about it and see if they can give you any reasonable answer as to why Lolita is in such a small place?
Then, report back here!
Jeff,
Thanks for the update. Good to know they can’t be loaded in CA. At least my family can be safer.

Thank you so much for talking about Lolita on the show. You can help by visiting http://www.savelolita.com and http://www.orcanetwork.org (Lolita/captivity) Orca Network has a retirement proposal for her and a lot of information on her plight along with a donation page. SaveLolita.com has current photos and on the page “Educate for Lolita” you will find many ways to help her by writing letters or emails to officials from the USDA and APHIS which regulate marine mammals in captivity. We hold protests outside of the Miami Seaquarium the last Saturday of every month as well.
In response to Jeff’s question, when you ask the Seaquarium staff about Lolita’s tank size they just tell you that she was caught when she was a baby and the never had the money to build her a bigger tank since then. That is a lie because last year they just spent millions of dollars building a swim with the dolphins facility. The truth is they are expecting Lolita to die soon and are trying to replace her with dolphins so they can still make money. Again, thank you so much for bringing this to your audiences attention.

Hi, thank you for speaking out for Lolita the captive orca. For the past 10 years, I have been working to get her out of the Miami Seaquarium. Her tank is the size of a mere hotel swimming pool – it’s small, shallow and does not even have a shade awning to protect her sensitive skin from the blistering hot sunlight! She is all alone and performs circus tricks daily in the name of “education.” Seaquarium should be cited by the USDA and closed for neglect to an endangered animal! Thank you again for your broadcast!

Gun control,
I looked around for stories where guns “saved lives” however I couldn’t find much. All I found was a story on TIME where a taxi driver was threatened and before she got robbed of all of her stuff she shot the “thug” saving her life. Of course, what would have happened if the thug knew she as armed? Might have turned out a little differently. http://www.time.com/time/printout/0,8816,152446,00.html Plus the article points out that that statistically guns don’t really save lives…
All the others I found were “theoretical stories” which ended in “if they had a gun it would have saved their life.” Most of these stories came from the NRA (a little bias). I definitely cringe when hearing that more guns make the country safe. It just sounds scary… Did any one watch Bowling for Colombine? We have tends of thousands of gun related deaths every year. But if you have data that is not from the NRA and from a good solid source, I would love to see it and debate it.
Shame on Congressional Democrats for passing such an amendment.
