good show scott, i think you have very well defined opinions and that sets you apart from some of the more conservative podcast i listen to and i respect your opinions but i strongly disagree with your stance on the re-defining of marriage (as you say “gay marriage ban”). i am a homosexual who is against marriage being defined as anything but a man+woman. i do not feel that as a gay man i have a right to get married. your argument that people who are anti-gay marriage are so because they feel it offends there religion seems to me to make the point that marriage should be removed from the constitution completely given that i am of the thought that marriage is a purely religious joining

Hey Scott, just wanted to say I really enjoy your show, I think your really using new media and all these new methods of communication to their fullest.Your show really reflects how connected we really are. Your argument only stands if you accept the notion that marriage is a basic, human civil right. It’s not.
If you are arguing that it should be a basic human right, then be prepared to offer marriage to siblings, cousins, children, and bigamists. Government has restricted their “fundamental right” to marry for centuries.

You’ll forgive me if I feel your argument rings a bit hollow considering the fact that you took the opportunity to post a link to a Mormon propaganda site when you commented on my show.
My apologies if I’m wrong. If so, then I can assume that you support civil unions between all couples (gay and straight)? That would be considered a basic societal right that we should all enjoy, yes?

Man is it tough for some folks to shift their thinking.
Is Marriage a right? In my view yes. Same sex, why not. Look at the love and happiness it affords people who have been abused for years.
I find myself wondering if all the anti same sex marriage folks are missing the true danger in our society. Divorce. Hugely painful and rampant among all corners of or culture. When was the last time you saw these people rally against something that does truly wreck children and families.

I just wanted to comment that I think the bigger issue isn’t about the term marriage. If religions view that as the problem fine, I do have an issue that we do not have equal rights in this country that allow gay men and women to enjoy the legal benefits that “marriage” provides. People need to stop thinking they have the moral high ground when it comes to using religion to to dictate what marriage is when it comes to the law.
