Not a Fan of Michael Jackson?

Rep. Peter King (R) of New York is clearly not a fan of Michael Jackson. Don’t get me wrong, MJ was a weird dude, but speaking from a strictly legal perspective, isn’t this slander that is actionable? He specifically says that he was a “child molester” and a “pervert.” Jackson was acquitted and was never found guilty, nor admitted to, any wrongdoing or illegal activity. So, all you lawyers out there – can this guy be sued?

  1. Leave it to John to make this political. I write 100 things a week on Twitter, Facebook and my blog about anything and everything and you only seem to comment on the ones that are Republican vs. Democrat. Why is that? Do you have special radar that goes off? :)

This is not a political issue for me. I am curious from a strictly legal perspective.

    Two good points here.
    1. Jackson was never convicted. We need to respect that even when we don’t want to.

    2. Heros and servants of society rarely get the praise they deserve.

    Why?

Where heros get praise when they perform their act or duty, it is quickly forgotten. Celebrities perform constantly, so they get remembered more.

I never met MJ, he really got creepy, that is how I remember him. Still I am humming his songs.

    Funny story…
I did a photo shoot of Paul Jackson Jr (no relation) in his home a few years ago. “Hey Paul, can I use your bathroom?” “Sure right down that hall”. The hall was plastered with gold records. A lot of them. “Hey man says I, which one is your fave?” “Upper left corner”. It was Thriller.
“Dude, what did you play on that?” “All the guitar except the solo that Eddie Van Halen did on Beat It”.

Go back and listen the the axework on that record.
    Tasty!

    Correction,
Hung out with the artist relations guy at Fender tonight, he lives next door to my sister. Steve Lukather (Toto, Los Lobotomys, Tubes…) also played on Thriller.
