It’s been a debate here in Canada for a long time (almost 40 years now) now if we should or not legalize marijuana. Many study has made it clear that it should be legalize: it would bring a lot of money in taxes (much needed to keep our public health care and school running), and would prevent honest citizen that grow weed to end up in jail. rumors has it that the only reason it’s not yet legal are the huge pressure put by the US government to keep it illegal by fear it would cross the border south.

i believe it should be legalize. it’s less harmful then alcohol. but with the conservative government in place right now (equivalent to US republicans), it’s not going to happen.

If you get caught by the cop with weed, they will most likely just confiscate it (and probably smoke it, lol) and let you go with a simple warning. cops don’t want to do paperwork only for weed (unless you have a pound on you).

some study show that 84% of canadian have smoked marijuana at least once in their life, and that about 30% smoke on a weekly basis.

Bill hick said it best about marijuana: “I have never seen two people on pot get in a fight because it is fucking IMPOSSIBLE. “Hey, buddy!” “Hey, what?” “Ummmmmmm….” End of argument.”

medical marijuana is legal here. you can either get a permit to grow it (up to 8 plans i think) or the government will supply you with pre-rolled joints. but most doctor won’t prescribe it yet. but it slowly changing.

beside. would it not be better to go buy weed in a store then from some stranger in some organize criminal gang in the back of a dark alley ?

people here will smoke weed no matter what, the government might has well just cash in on it !

PS: sorry for my bad english, i’m from the french part of canada (where we grow the best weed, lol)

One time a cop caught me with a small bowl of weed and said he was going to charge me with intent to sell. I laughed at him and told him he was full of bs. It never showed up in court. Hey cops, go bust the real criminals, duh!

    Hey Scott!

On the issue of climate change, to suggest that global warming is debatable, which Sarah Palin seems to advocate is ridiculous. I literally dont know how someone like Sarah Palin thinks like this, i mean this was a woman who was a potential vice president of the US, its scary as hell how someone like this can reach a position of such power.
Im hopeful that the copenhagen summit can acheive something, because if not then this earth is pretty fucked with the way were going about

At first I loathed Sarah Palin. I was really frightened that she might make an impact. Now that it is evident that she is simply a well coifed turd, I sleep a little better.

I have to say that I don’t like Sarah Palin at all, she scared the crap out of me, but the whole climate change thing…there are plenty of credited scientists who have questions and don’t believe that we are being given all the facts related to climate change. And to be publicly ridiculed and called a quack for asking questions, and asking for the original information that resulted in the equations we use today, that yes, have mysteriously dissapeared? That’s insane, isn’t that was scientist are supposed to do? Not just go with the flow if there is evidence supporting other theories? I don’t honestly think that Sarah Palin truly cares about it, and it’s probably another wagon to jump on politically but what she’s said does have truth behind it and it’s worth researching and having an open debate.

    Hi Scott,

I just wanted to comment on the Uganda Debates Death Penalty for Gays story.

I am originally from South Africa, and being there you hear a lot more in the media about what the general view is of gay people.

It seems that the general view of gay people does not in fact have anything to do with the spread of HIV and AIDS. The homophobic link to HIV and AIDS is not as great in African countries. The homophobia is more deeply rooted than that. Many African believe the being gay is completely unnatural, and some even believe that homosexuality is something that was introduced into Africa by Western influences to prevent Africans from breeding. By the way, there is also view that is also held by some radical African groups that believe that there is no such thing as HIV AIDS, this is also a construct Western Imperialism to prevent breeding of African people.

You get nutters in every part of the world.
