Bill Maher on Arizona’s Illegal Immigration law

I watched this episode of “Real Time With BIll Maher” when it aired and I have been looking for a clip of it online. Bill Maher sums up exactly how I feel about the Arizona Immigration Law. It’s misguided and seems to be picking on those that are most defenseless. Recent polls show that most Americans support this type of law, but I think their anger is aimed at the wrong people.

Thank you for the Bill Maher clip. It helps take some of the sting out of probably being one of the few anglos in the state of Arizona who opposes this law. You would not believe what I have to hear at work. This law is not about enforcing illegal immigration laws it’s about denigrating a race of people. I’m sure that the next thing we’ll be seeing is Sherif Joe requiring that all legal Mexican immigrants begin wearing yellow sombreros stitched to their clothing.

  3. Agreed Elizabeth. Everyone I talk to says “what’s the big deal?” The big deal is that this is a slippery slope and once we start down this road, we may not like where it takes us as a nation. Where will it end?

“I wish Bill Maher was a pixie on my shoulder”. He sums all my ideas. He is always on target!

Where does the illegal immigration end ? Maher is an idiot. Deport the illegals. They butt in front of those who want to do it the legal way. How about the crime and drug problems in Arizona, and the safe houses? Right here in Pa, videos have been released of illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants are a boil on Amerca’s ass.

  7. @Dan – I didn’t see a single fact in your argument – just a bunch incorrect stereotypes. The reality is that the vast majority of immigrants have NOTHING to do with crime and/or drugs.

It must be easy to cast judgment from the cheap seats in PA about immigration issues isn’t it? I agree we need to do something to get this process under control, but AZ’s law is not the answer.

Trust me Americans realize how good they have it. Especially, those who have traveled outside this country. I don’t fault these people for want to come to the U.S. but rationaly I don’t see how anyone could blame U.S. Citizens for wanting to control who comes into THEIR country. The Mexicans talk about the white racist but if your for having an open border and letting people just come in as they please and your hispanic your just as racist as anyone. If these were Irish coming in I’m sure you wouldn’t give a damn. On a math note about 30 million have came in since 1980 if you count the 16 million Reagan gave amnesty to that is about 10% of the U.S. population. Unemployment is at 10% hmmmmm do the math. How about Mexico start taking care of there own people!!!
